Sunday April 15th was a wonderful day. The team met at Johnny Bench Plaza at "The Brick". We handed out tickets and headed for the stadium. We were met by Ms. Larissa Wolfe with the OKC Redhawks and escorted down to the field. We watched the Redhawks warm up and a couple of them were kind enough to autograph the Redhawks Baseball given to each of us by the team.
When the players took the field for the National Anthem, the Cubs joined the Redhawks on the field. Afterward, we headed for our seats to enjoy a double-header. In the first game the Redhawks beat the Memphis Redbirds 2 - 0. The second game was scoreless and went into an extra inning. Then Dave Matranga hit a walk-off home run out over the left field fence.
After the second game, the remaining Cubs (Don, Garrett, Calvin, Ryan B, and Nicholas) joined the other kids out in the outfield and played catch on the turf. Catch was followed by hitting homers over the Center Field fence.
All-in-all, it was a great day. We enjoyed beautiful weather and every player got to watch the game.
